Seniors 4 beat Knox 0

The Mount Lilydale boys travelled to Knox to lift themselves out of the relegation zone. The game was poised to be a make or brake game with the formation changing and several players playing different positions. The weather was turning with the game starting with heavy showers above us.

The Mount Lilydale boys started off with a bang with Adam Gemelli sqeezing home a header for the opening goal from a Joe Sette precision corner. The game then turned into a fierce affair, but the Mount Lilydale midfield was exposing the Knox backline time and time again. The game was very fast paced and it wasn't until the heavy hail started to fall that Johnny Pignataro was sent through to send home his first goal of the season by placing the ball just out of the keepers reach in the far corner. The half ended 2-0 with the away crowd erupting at the Mount Lilydale first half performance.

The second half began in the same fashion as the opening half with the Mount Lilydale boys having the support of the travelling crowd chanting their lungs out in support and to see more of the same effort and they were not to be disapointed with Adrian Notaro sending a through ball to split the defence and play through Joe Drago who then proceeded to round the keeper and finish off nicely and to reward the crowd who responded with an eruption of noise!

The game then started turning physical with Knox knowing the game was beyond them, but the Mount Lilydale team continued pressing with Notaro coming very close with a long range effort. And it wasn't until the 75th minute that the game was put to rest with Joe Drago adding the fourth goal and his second, with a long low range strike which beat the keeper and sent the Mount Lilydale team and crowd into absolute pandemonium! The game then ended with several more opportunities to add a fifth goal but the game ended with a physical, hard fought 4-0 away victory to Mount Lilydale.

Well done to the Mount Lilydale boys and a very big thank-you to our crowd! Hopefully we see you all next week at home to Rosebud!

Reserves 1 lost to Knox 3

The reserves where looking still for their first win of the season against a highly rated Knox outfit. The inclusion of newly signed midfielder Paul "Choco" Psathas and senior player Tyler Sonsini would boost the team morale and experience.

The game began in very chilly conditions with Mount Lilydale looking very potent up front and it wasn't until Luis DiManno made a piercing solo run through the middle, went a one-two with Nesto and finished nicely into the bottom left corner to put the Mount Lilydale boys up 1-0.The half then ended in the same scoreline.

The second half began with the young Knox team looking very dangerous down the left hand side and it wasn't long until the Knox team equalised. The game was still fierce in the guts and the Knox team managed to find a hole in the Mount Lilydale defence to add another crucial goal to put themselves up 2-1. The game started to turn scrappy with the track starting to get a heavy amount of rain falling and it wasn't until the final minutes that Knox added another goal to make the scoreline 3-1. Unlucky boys, keep your heads up!
