Reserves Find Some Heart

The reserves travelled to Rosebud for a heart finding game, where the boys have been a little under confident and performing in only 2nd gear.

 

The game was set for a solid affair with the weather giving the ground a bath before kickoff and looking to be a very heavy track underfoot.

The reserves commenced the game in excellent fashion and were on top all over the park, with yet again another patch up team with multiple players missing, the reserves attacked and controlled the game with style and flair.

 

The scoring opened in the first half with a brilliant through ball that was picked up by Louie Pettinella just before the Rosebud keeper who then took control and lifted the ball into the far corner fot the game's opening goal. Rosebud then sprung into life with a scramble goal just before the half time whistle to level things up at half time.

 

The second half was a mirror image of the first, with the reserves dominating play but not able to convert there opportunities. Ernie "Twinkle Toes" Lando came close with an overhead volley and Junior Drago also came close to finding the net, but it was to be Louie Pettinella's day with a second goal from a fine built up of play from the mightly goats to make the game 2-1 in their favour with about 10 minutes to play. The reserves were holding on to the lead with tired legs and no men on the bench and they unluckily fell short when Rosebud ran onto a loose ball to chip the keeper with only seconds to go and draw the game up at 2-2. Very unlucky boys and better luck in a fortnights time. Well done!
