Seniors Draw On The Road

The seniors travelled down to Rosebud with a patch up team with multiple players missing due to other commitments. With the five players who were missing on the day it meant that the reserves players had to make up the numbers to fill the gaps in the strong senior squad.

 

The game began on a knife's edge for the seniors with Rosebud making all the early running and attacking Taba's goal with real promise, but the senior side began to control the middle and looked to be on the front foot with multiple chances going astray after some great build-up's through the back and midfield players. But Rosebud wasn't just going to stand and watch and opened the scoring with a fine first time effort from outside the box, leaving the keeper with no chance. 1-0 Rosebud.

The seniors continued to press and were unlucky not to equalise with a ball flashing across the goal line with no one able to turn it into the net, the half ended 1-0 to the home side.

 

The second half came about and a few changes were made and Rosebud looked to be tiring, with the seniors looking to take control. The seniors were pressing but just couldn't make the final shot count with the Rosebud keeper making a few crucial saves to keep them ahead. With about 15 to go Louie Pettinella swooped onto McCabe's quick free kick to score into an empty net to tie the game up at 1-1. The game then blew wide open with both teams having chances to win the game and Taba stood up and was counted when the big man came out and made some excellent and hard ball saves to keep the seniors level. The game was near and over with the game finishing 1-1 and a good overall result for the undermanned seniors!
